Supporting Elephant Conservation

The Columbus Zoo has a 20-year history of supporting wildlife conservation through the Conservation Grants program. Over the past five years, the Zoo has provided $4 million in support for field projects and conservation organizations in more than 40 countries - including several elephant projects in Africa and Asia.

The Zoo is a member of the International Elephant Foundation (IEF); the National Elephant Center; and the Human-Wildlife Conflict Collaboration (HWCC). Columbus Zoo staff members hold board and steering committee positions with all of these organizations. On grounds, visitors learn about elephant conservation and contribute directly to field projects at the Zoo’s Elephant Conservation Station inside the Pachyderm area.
